Location: Hybrid or remote. Remote applicants will be required to travel to our office in Cheshire once per month.

Overview:

ebb3 are looking for a proficient and detail-oriented Senior Infrastructure Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will take on the responsibility of designing, implementing, and upkeeping robust IT infrastructure solutions, with a focus on backup and recovery systems also. As a Senior Infrastructure engineer, you will be working within the ebb3 engineering team who are responsible for architecting and implementing solutions for our customers.

 

Within the current environment you will be working in a hybrid role, visiting our offices in Alderley Park 3 days a week to collaborate directly with other members of the engineering team, or the wider ebb3 team. As part of the role, you will be required to travel to customers sites for infrastructure and backup technology implementation throughout the UK.

Key Responsibilities

                 

Infrastructure Deployment:

  • Deploy and configure servers, networking equipment, and storage solutions based on project requirements.

  • Implement and optimise virtualisation technologies for efficient resource utilisation.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of infrastructure components.

Backup and Recovery Implementation:

  • Design and implement backup and recovery solutions tailored to meet customer needs.

  • Configure and manage backup systems, ensuring data integrity and reliability.

  • Conduct regular testing of backup and recovery processes to validate system readiness.

 

Monitoring and Maintenance:

  • Monitor the health and performance of IT infrastructure components.

  • Respond to alerts and incidents promptly, troubleshooting and resolving issues.

  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, updates, and patches to ensure system security and stability.

 

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Create and maintain detailed documentation of infrastructure configurations and procedures.

  • Generate reports on backup success rates, system performance, and other relevant metrics.

  • Contribute to the development of standard operating procedures (SOPs) for infrastructure management.

 

Collaboration and Support:

  • Collaborate with customer IT teams and other departments to understand technology requirements.

  • Provide technical support and assistance to end-users and other IT staff when needed.

  • Stay informed about industry trends and advancements to recommend improvements and optimisations.

  • As part of this role, you may be asked to participate in out of hours support.

 

When on standby you will receive an additional flat rate payment to be confirmed, you will be entitled to claim overtime at 1.5 times your basic rate once a minimum of one hour of work has been carried out and thereafter in 30 minute increments. Further details are available upon request.

 

 

Technical Experience

  • Has knowledge and experience of storage technologies, including SAN, NAS, and experience with storage solutions such as Dell EMC, NetApp OnTap, VMware vSAN, or similar.

 

  • Has knowledge and experience the design and operation of virtualisation platforms such as VMware vSphere, Citrix XenServer, or Microsoft Hyper-V.

 

  • Proficiency in using and configuring backup and recovery solutions, such as Veeam, Dell Data Protection suite, or similar tools.

 

  • Hands-on experience in configuring and managing networking components, including routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers.

  • Has knowledge and experience of core IP networking skill such as IP address subnetting and services such as DNS, DHCP and the basic operation of a standard network firewall using Network Address Translation (NAT).

 

  • Has knowledge and experience with server operating systems, such as Windows Server and/or Linux distributions (e.g., Red Hat, CentOS), and their administration.

 

  • Proven track record in developing and implementing disaster recovery plans to ensure business continuity in the event of system failures.

 

  • Understanding and implementation of security best practices for IT infrastructure, including knowledge of encryption, access controls, and intrusion detection/prevention systems.

 

Skills and Qualifications

  • Proven experience as an IT infrastructure and backup engineer or similar role.

 

  • Proficiency in infrastructure technologies, including servers, networking, storage, and virtualisation i.e. VMware\XenServer\Hyper-V, Dell\NetApp Storage solutions, Dell networking.

 

  • Hands-on experience with backup and recovery solutions and disaster recovery planning i.e. Veeam Backup and Recovery, Dell Data Protection Suite.

 

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

 

  • Any industry standard certifications are a plus.

  • At least 3+ years working experience delivering technical infrastructure designs & implementation of solutions to customers.
